My Positions

My position has been and will continue to be to reflect the interests and needs of my community. I have met with constituents in town meetings, neighborhood community meetings, school community meetings and surveyed thousands through mail out surveys. I have found the following. We want:

  1. Good Jobs
  2. Strong Education
  3. Not to be overburdened by taxes
  4. Reasonable Healthcare, and
  5. Good Transportation.

AND SO DO I

Every year for the past seven years that I have been in the Legislature, I have carried, voted for and lobbied on behalf of legislation that addressed each of the above topics. I have worked on , crafted and voted for policy issues that have helped to make Utah the number ONE State in America in job growth, economic development, and recognized as “The Best managed State Government,”in the Country. These accolades were expressed by business journals, national publications and newpapers throughout America.

AND I WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO!

I have opened 4 Interim Study Items that will result in 4 peices of new Legislation for the 2009 Legislative Session in the following areas:

  1. Two (2) study items on lowering Utah State Income Taxes
  2. One (1) study item to fund a “Math Initiative,” for 4th through 6th grade students to improve math scores. (Utah scores have been dropping.)
  3. One (1) Comprehensive Ethics Bill to limit the use of Campaign Contributions for only campaign expenses. Complete transparency to the public of Legislative gifts with the responsibility for reporting gifts put upon the Elected Officials who have been given the public’s trust through their election
