I have been a proud resident of Salt Lake Valley for 62 years, minus 9 years I spent out of state finishing college and starting my family. I was raised in the Midvale, Fort Union area where I attended Midvale and Union Elementary, Midvale Jr High and Jordan and Hillcrest High School. My wife of 41 years, Marilynn Snow Mascaro and I attended elementary, junior high and high school together. We have two lovely daughters that are married and they have seven children between them. Our daughters and grandchildren all attend or will be attending Jordan School District schools.
I mention these family matters because I want you to understand why my service to the 47th Legislative District is so important to me. The boundries of this district includes where my wife and I have spent nearly our entire lives and now where our children and grandchildren are growing up. Things that have been important in our lives- jobs, education, the economy, healthcare, are all the same issues that are now important to my children and grandchildren.
I have a BS Degree in Marketing Management/Research and have been a businessman in the Salt Lake area for the past 31 years. I currently work as the CEO of a private non-profit organization that helps people with disabilities gain sustainable and meaningful employment. My wife teaches Elementary School and has taught for over 25 years. I served in the U S Marine Corps Reserve for six years during the Vietnam Era and I have served in the Utah State Legislature for 7 Sessions since being appointed to serve by Governor Leavitt in 2002.
I take great pride in being able to serve in the District that I have been a part of nearly all my life. I am committed to seeing that our 47th Legislative District receives the most comprehensive representation possible.
